What We Do — Environmental

Environmental

JBW Federal delivers environmental capability — from asbestos remediation through range clearance — for the sites federal agencies can't afford to get wrong.

Environmental

Built for sites where conditions decide the outcome.

JBW Federal's environmental team works across the full lifecycle of a site — from preliminary investigation through remediation, clearance, and closeout. That range covers asbestos removal and remediation, remedial investigation and feasibility study, and surface, underwater, and range clearance of unexploded ordnance and explosive remnants of war.

That work is organized under three primary capability areas, supported by additional technical, community, and compliance functions that run alongside every project — investigation, hazard classification, removal actions, outreach, and adherence to CERCLA, RCRA, and FUDS requirements.

Capability Areas

Nine disciplines, one environmental team.

  • We specialize in providing safe, efficient, and comprehensive asbestos removal and remediation services. With a focus on professionalism, expertise, and environmental responsibility, we are committed to safeguarding the health and well-being of our clients and the community. As a licensed and certified asbestos abatement contractor, we have the knowledge, experience, and resources to handle asbestos projects of any size or complexity, ensuring compliance with regulations and peace of mind for our clients.

  • We understand the importance of thorough Remedial Investigation and Feasibility Study (RI/FS) processes in environmental remediation projects. As a trusted environmental consulting firm, we specialize in providing comprehensive RI/FS services tailored to meet the unique needs of our clients. With a focus on precision, efficiency, and environmental stewardship, we are committed to delivering reliable solutions that address contamination challenges and support informed decision-making.

  • We are your trusted partner for comprehensive surface, underwater, and range clearance services. As a leading provider in the field, we specialize in delivering safe, efficient, and reliable solutions for the clearance of land, water, and airspace from unexploded ordnance (UXO) and other explosive remnants of war (ERW). With a commitment to excellence and safety, we offer a range of services tailored to meet the unique needs of our clients and ensure the protection of personnel, property, and the environment.

  • We conduct preliminary assessments, inspections, and site evaluations to establish the environmental condition of a property before remediation or construction work begins. These evaluations identify potential contamination, hazardous materials, and site-specific risk factors, giving clients a clear technical picture early in the project lifecycle. As with our other environmental services, this work is carried out with the documentation rigor and regulatory awareness federal projects require, supporting sound decisions before ground is broken.

  • We provide unexploded ordnance (UXO) and munitions and explosives of concern (MEC) avoidance support for construction projects operating on or near historically used ranges. This includes pre-construction surveys, real-time escort of crews and equipment, and avoidance procedures designed to keep personnel and schedules safe on sites where explosive hazards may be present. Our teams work alongside construction operations so avoidance support keeps pace with the project rather than slowing it down.

  • We plan and execute both time-critical and non-time-critical removal actions for sites requiring a response to contamination or hazardous conditions. Time-critical actions address immediate risks to health, safety, or the environment, while non-time-critical removal actions follow a more structured evaluation and planning process. In both cases, our teams manage the removal work to applicable regulatory standards, from initial scoping through site closeout.

  • Environmental work on federal sites often affects the surrounding community, and we treat outreach as part of the technical process rather than an afterthought. Our teams support public involvement activities, community information sessions, and coordination with local stakeholders throughout the life of a project, helping keep residents and local officials informed as investigation and remediation work moves forward.

  • We support the removal, inspection, and classification of material potentially presenting an explosive hazard (MPPEH) encountered during environmental and construction work. Certified personnel evaluate and classify suspect items according to established explosive safety procedures, and where required, coordinate disposal by detonation under controlled conditions. This work is carried out under strict safety protocols to protect personnel, the site, and the surrounding area.

  • Our environmental work is carried out within the framework of CERCLA, RCRA, and the Formerly Used Defense Sites (FUDS) program, along with the broader federal and state regulations that govern hazardous materials and site remediation. We track policy and compliance requirements throughout each project — from initial assessment through closeout — so technical work stays aligned with the regulatory obligations federal clients are held to.

Field Execution

Environmental work is judged on-site, not on paper.

Every JBW environmental engagement runs inside the same regulatory, safety, and documentation requirements — regardless of which capability area is doing the work.

  • Safety

Environmental work requires disciplined field execution and careful control of site conditions.

  • Compliance

Work performed to the environmental regulations, remediation standards, and agency-specific requirements that govern the project.

  • Technical Precision

Investigation, remediation, clearance, and assessment carried out through disciplined, repeatable technical processes.

  • Accountability

Every phase of environmental work is documented and managed with care, from assessment through closeout.
